Its been a bit since the last blog post, so we have a lot to cover! The past few weeks have been filled with a lot of chairs first events and it all ends with BIG REVEAL!

Plant Potting

Brothers and initiates gathered their green thumbs to paint some flower pots. We chose from an assortment of seeds including Basil, Cilantro, Rosemary, and more. It has been a few weeks so hopefully all of you have sprouting seeds now!

Science Experiments

Brothers and Initiates gathered in the name of science! We experimented with milk, food coloring, and dish soap. As odd as it sounds to use milk in an experiment, the results were quite pretty. We also popped balloons with orange rinds, and made elephant toothpaste! Bill Nye would be proud.

Blind Book Dates

Some of our brothers and an initiate wrapping the books before the event. Left (front to back): Courtney McCoy, Mary Coral, and Raine Harris Right(front to back): Jenny DeBose, Olivia Son

Our first fundraising event of the semester was blind book dates. Some of our brothers bought used books, wrapped them in paper and wrote small descriptions about the books. The books were sold at the Compass to VCU students. The event was a success!

Hotel Greene

Brothers took a trip to the trendy Hotel Greene for a round of mini golf. Everyone enjoyed the combination of fancy hotel ambiance and a little competition. Thank you to our brotherhood chair Jacqui for putting this event together!

VMFA Trip

The first scholarship event of the semester was a fun trip to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. We walked the grounds outside and inside the museum and appreciated the art that Richmond has to offer. Thank you to our scholarship chair LeeAnn for a great event!

Folk Festival

First row left to right: Mackenzie Cocherell, Gillian Reilly, and Alex Lentz. Back row left to right: Genesis Rosas, Buzz Jassawalla, Faizah Kabir, Jacqui Handley, and Thora Toloczko

Our first service event of the semester took place a the Richmond Folk Festival. Brothers volunteered in the Bucket Brigade where we collected donations from patrons to keep the festival free. We had a great time and wore some fashionable bright orange vests so we could really stand out! Thank you to our service chair Genesis for organizing this event!

Big Reveal

The week ended with Big reveal on Sunday. After a week long of confusing the initiates, they finally found out who their Bigs were. I have to say, a lot of them were right in their guesses from the beginning. It was so wonderful to see our new initiates unite with their Bigs who will guide them along the final few weeks of this journey! We hope you all enjoyed you week full of presents!
