Welcome back everyone! Who's ready for the new school year...okay no one is truly ready but hopefully this summer recap of what some of our members did during the break will lift your spirits.

Raine Harris

"On July 31, 2019, I completed a course that I didn’t believe I could. Basic Leadership Course (BLC) is a 3-week course that transforms Soldiers in to Sergeants (E-5). I learned about leadership, conflict management, accountability and more. I was always placed outside of my comfort zone and didn’t feel I could make it. Because of the support for my family, friends, Battle Buddies and instructors, I was able to be successful. I am ready to start the next level in my Army career and continue to excellence."

Congratulations Raine! We are so proud of you for all your hard work, and can't wait to see what else you achieve this semester!

Marie Johnson

Our Brother-at-Large, Marie Johnson (left), climbed Crabtree Falls in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Crabtree Falls is the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi River! What a hike! Glad you made it to the top and took these great pictures. Marie has also been working hard this summer to organize an awesome executive board retreat that will be coming soon. We appreciate all that you do and are glad you had a fun and restorative trip to such an amazing place this summer.

Jordan Haley

"This summer I interned at the Port of Virginia as a Finance Intern where I had the privilege to be placed in accounts receivable where I was tasked to define all open, unpaid amounts in Virginia International Terminal's accounts receivable aged over 90 days. I then helped create a database to help clean up disputed accounts receivable and forgotten invoices."

Highlights of her experience include going inside a large ship-to-shore crane and using some of the Artificial Intelligence technology they use to train crane operators. Jordan presented her project to the Board of Directors and the CEO of the Port! "Overall, this summer I can confidently say that I met my professional goals."

We are so excited that you had a great opportunity this summer to learn and get more involved in your field!
